(KTVQ.com) – Health experts say anyone can experience TBI. As many as 53,000 people in the U.S. die from TBI-related causes every year. Those who survive it can face effects lasting a few days to disabilities that can last a lifetime.

"I can say that it’s a major cause of death or disability in the U.S. and I think that’s one that we become increasingly aware of as we build some awareness of the whole spectrum of head injuries, and that runs from mild head injuries, which we tend to call concussions, to very serious head injuries," said Billings Clinic Emergency Medicine and Medical Ethics Physician Dr. Nathan Allen.
